From the heart of your Pastor,
We have often said the Church is not defined by the four walls of a building. Do we believe that? I do! You and I, we are the Church if we are Christian. Let’s be the Church everywhere that we find ourselves and see God do amazing things in these days.
These are unusual days. These are unique times. And yet there have been other times that brought this nation to great fear. For some of us we’ve never experienced these kinds of days. For some you’ve been through times like this more than once in your lifetime. The good news for the Christian is the reminder of WHO it is that sits on the throne of the universe and the throne of our lives.
Hope not fear
Peace not panic
Joy not sadness
Cup half full not half empty
Praise not defeat
Heaven to come not hell
Faith not doubt
Strength from surrender
Prayer not anxiety
God’s presence in all
These are realities that we can choose during this time. And sometimes we may find ourselves with both sides of the statements. Hopeful but feeling anxiety. A really scared world around us needs to desperately see these realities that we can choose with God’s presence.
We can wisely comply with the directions of our leaders and yet choose to find peace in God. And we will at Odon Church of the Nazarene comply with the directives of our leaders. We will not be having our worship services through the end of the month of March. We will reevaluate the situation then.
That said, we will have a devotional that I will share at 10 AM on Sunday morning through Facebook Live. Linda shares our services with an average of 110 people every week through Facebook Live. I hope you will join that group this Sunday morning at 10 AM if you have Facebook on your computer or phone. For those who do not have Facebook we will create a CD for you to be able to listen to and it will be delivered to you Sunday afternoon.
Beginning at 10:30 on Sunday morning the Church will be open for three hours for a “come and go” time of prayer. Come whenever you want during that three hours. Stay as long as you want. The purpose is to pray…seek God…lift up our nation…lift up our neighbors and our families…lift up our Church families…but most importantly seek God!!!
What would happen if what seems like such a difficult time for our country could be the event that calls people to seek God who comes to them in this storm. What would happen if family members that do not know God would see God through how we choose to live our lives during this time.
Many of you support the Church financially with your tithes and offerings. We need your continued faithfulness. There will be a place on Sunday morning as you come into the Sanctuary to leave your tithes and offerings. If you cannot make it on Sunday morning there is a way to give online to the Church (an app you download called Tithe.ly) or you can put a check in the mail (633 E Elnora, Odon, IN 47562). In spite of the times the financial obligations of what it takes to be the Church still go on and opportunities we are seeking to be the Church to a lost world takes finances. Thank you for your help and support.
